JOIN A HOME GROUP

HOME GROUPS EXIST TO FOSTER SPIRITUAL GROWTH by providing a context for the Word of God to be studied and applied through mutual care and service.

A typical evening will include time to connect, share life stories, talk through the latest sermon, read scripture and pray together. Members in a home group are committed to walking together and building-up each other in Christ.

Home groups follow a typical school calendar year. They run for nine months from September to May with a short break over Christmas and New Years.

During the summer, we encourage those at DHBC to continue to plan to meet and grow with one another at gatherings and events.

“GROW” IS A DISCIPLESHIP INITIATIVE HERE AT DHBC. WE PURPOSELY TRY AND AVOID CALLING IT A PROGRAM (THOUGH WE DO SOMETIMES) BECAUSE IT GOES MUCH DEEPER THAN A PROGRAM. WHAT WE ARE REALLY TRYING TO DO IS HELP PUSH PEOPLE INTO THE LIFESTYLE OF MEETING TOGETHER WITH 3-4 PEOPLE, LEARNING TOGETHER AND APPLYING THE GOSPEL TO EACH OTHER. WE WANT PEOPLE TO GROW IN FIGHTING SIN, LOVING GOD, LIVING IN COMMUNITY AND SERVING THE CITY AND WE BELIEVE THAT GROW PODS ARE A GREAT CONTEXT TO CHALLENGE US TO DO THAT.

It is our belief that participation in a local church is not merely an obligation of Christians but is a joyful privilege in which we glorify God through fruitful service in the context of meaningful relationships with other believers. That is why we emphasize church membership at DHBC. Our commitment to God and one another has been encapsulated in our church covenant.

In order to become a member of DHBC, each person must go through the following three steps:

STEP #1: COMPLETE THE “STARTING POINT” COURSE

The purpose of Starting Point is to orient those interested in membership to what we believe, our life together, our organization, our mission and values. The course is divided into four sessions.

Attending the course does not commit a person to membership nor does it guarantee membership upon completion.

STEP #2: BE INTERVIEWED

Upon completion of the Starting Point Course, those interested in pursuing membership will be interviewed by at least two leaders of DHBC. The purpose of the interview is to hear the prospective member’s profession of faith, to answer any questions, and to help lead them into joyful service in the body of Christ.

STEP #3: BE VOTED INTO MEMBERSHIP

Upon a positive recommendation from the interview, the prospective member will be voted into membership at the next formal church meeting. This vote will be followed by a celebration Sunday where the new member will be publicly welcomed into membership.

For more information regarding membership, please contact one of the pastors.
