PASTORAL TEAM

WES PARKER

SENIOR PASTOR

After attending DHBC with my wife Sarah for almost 11 years now, seeing two daughters born to us, and serving as Music Director for the past five, I am both excited and humbled to come on staff as the senior pastor.  What a path this has been to lead us to this place, and what a gift to be able to serve this body of believers I have come to know and love deeply over my years here.  ”This is the LORD’s doing and it is marvellous in our eyes.” Ps. 118:23

Wes grew up in Kamloops, British Columbia and, after attending Thompson Rivers University there, went on to complete his Bachelor of Religious Education with a music major at Prairie Bible College in Three Hills, Alberta.  He is now near completion of his Masters of Divinity degree from Northwest Baptist Seminary as a pioneering student in their innovative, in-house seminary training program called Immerse.

FRANK ANDERSON

NON-VOCATIONAL PASTOR

Dr. Frank Anderson is a long time member of DHBC and has been active in every area of church life and a board member for 50 years. He is a physician and Associate Professor Emeritus at the University of B.C., and the retired director of the Liver and Intestinal Research Centre (LAIR Centre) in Vancouver. He also has a music degree and has been the organist at DHBC for 40 years.

DON MACDONALD - DEACON OF FINANCE

Don has been attending DHBC since the late 1980’s but did not come to a personal faith in Jesus until 1997, after attending Christianity courses held by DHBC. Don is a chartered accountant and graduate engineer and has served on the Board of Deacons as Treasurer for several years. He is chief financial officer of a Vancouver based mining company but his passions are outreach to poorer communities around the world (particularly in Africa), coffee, and a very eclectic taste in music. His delights are the Lord, his wife and his two daughters.

Sharon Bowles – DEACON OF Prayer

Sharon was looking for a church home where she could worship in freedom with other believers - the ministry of the Word is of utmost importance to her. The opportunity to serve as the Deacon of Prayer is an intimidating one, but she has witnessed God working in her own life and in many other people’s lives over many years and know that there is power in prayer. She strives to lead our Prayer ministry to one that is used regularly and often as we see God work in His time and His way.

LES NERLING – DEACON OF MUSIC AND MEDIA

Les and his wife, Ellen, came to DHBC in January of 2013 seeking a smaller church where they could be connected and known.  The DHBC community soon became "home" as they got to know people and found ways to be involved. Les is a choral conductor and music teacher with the Vancouver School Board. His affinity to music started as a young child in church and ever since he can remember, music has always been a God thing. He is thrilled to fuse his art and faith by overseeing Music and Media. When not engaged in all things musical, Les enjoys cooking, travel, and getting his fingers dirty in the garden.

KEN ROSS – DEACON OF BUILDING

MAY ANNE THEN – DEACON OF MISSIONS

May Anne moved to Vancouver in 2010 to pursue a degree at UBC, and found her home away from home in the DHBC community. Her ties to her family in Asia drives her heart to serve locally - wherever she is -  with the world in mind, firmly believing that everyone has a role to play in God's great mission. She enjoys working with local and global communities in creation care, and a good cup of tea.

May Anne also serves on staff as our church Administrator and Kids Ministry Coordinator.
