Dunbar Heights Baptist Church is committed to making Jesus known in the city of Vancouver. We have been ministering the Gospel for over 70 years on the West side of Vancouver near the UBC campus. We encourage you to read our mission statement and our history.
When and Where do you meet?
We gather every Sunday at 10:30am for a worship service located at 3996 West 17th Ave @ Crown St. Other ministries meet throughout the week.
What can I expect at your Sunday Worship Service?
On an average Sunday morning, we gather at DHBC to worship Jesus through singing, public prayer, and biblical preaching. Our dress tends towards casual but that never discourages the occasional suit and tie.
Our worship sets are marked by a creative integration of contemporary songs, classic hymns, corporate confessions, responsive readings, and ancient creeds. We also allocate a time to offer our tithes and for a quite reflection. Then the children come up to the front for a brief teaching story with our friendly mascot, Butterfingers. After they are dismissed to their Sunday School classes, the adults continue in worship through public prayer - sharing requests and interceding for one another, our city and the world.
Our sermons are expository, meaning the main point of the message is the main point of the passage we are studying. They typically last between 30-40 minutes and are recorded weekly. On the first Sunday of each month we share in communion together, and church members reaffirm our church covenant.
After the service, we invite people up to the front for personal prayer on one side, and a pastor’s Q & A (aka. the Hotseat) on the other side.
What about my kids?
We encourage our families to worship together. The children join the adults through the worship singing and then are then dismissed to the Sunday School Kid’s Alive program. Parents are encouraged to accompany their children to their appropriate rooms.

How can I get involved at DHBC?
You can get involved in a number of ways. If you want to learn more about Jesus and what it means to follow him, then consider Christianity Explored or our discipleship ministry. You can also join us for a Prayer Meeting every Sunday morning from 9:45-10:15am before service in the upstairs “fishbowl” room.
If you’re looking for community, we highly recommend joining a small group. Our groups meet across town in local homes throughout the week. Or consider one of our focused community groups, like Women@2 or Mommy & Me. If you would like to serve others in our church and community, please join our volunteer group called Dunbar Serving Ministry.
